The 2017 Pioneer in Integrative Medicine Award Goes To... Dr. Culbert!Sep 15, 2017
Congrats to our very own Dr. Culbert for his award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)! Here's what the AAP had to say:
The American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Integrative Medicine (SOIM) is excited to announce the recipient for their prestigious Section Award, Pioneer in Integrative Medicine to Dr. Timothy Culbert. SOIM created an annual award recognizing a pioneer in pediatric integrative medicine. SOIM would like to raise awareness by publicly acknowledging key figures who have advocated for pediatric CAM research, education and clinical care. This is the first award of its kind in pediatrics and the 4th year SOIM has handed out a section award.
Dr. Culbert is board certified in developmental-behavioral pediatrics and has training in medical hypnosis, biofeedback, functional medicine, nutrition, aromatherapy, integrative psychiatry and Reiki. He was the medical director for the Integrative Med Program at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of MN from 2001-2011, one of the first programs of its kind in the USA. He is now Medical Director for Integrative Medicine Programs at PrairieCare Medical Group in Minnesota with a focus on holistic mental health. He is adjunct faculty for Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota and he co-edited the academic textbook “Integrative Pediatrics” for Oxford University Press in 2009. Dr. Culbert just launched the website NaturalMentalHealth.com providing information and a variety of resources for all ages on integrative mental health approaches.
Dr. Culbert co-hosted the first Integrative Pediatrics National Conference with Dr. Andrew Weil and his staff at the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine Program in 2001, and hosted the first Pediatric Integrative Medicine Leadership Initiative Meeting in 2004. He is one of the founders of the AAP Section on Integrative Medicine and one of the true pioneers in the field of pediatric integrative medicine (PIM). He has played an integral part in pediatric integrative medicine leadership efforts nationally and continues to teach, advocate, consult, publish and mentor in a warm and supportive way.
